Type of organization
Systems professionals work in different types of organizations. Some are part of the IT department of a company whose main business is not software or technology (i.e. banks, government, manufacturing, etc.); others work in companies whose business is providing IT development, implementation and maintenance services. Another type of organization is ISVs (Independent Software Vendors), which are companies that create their own technology to market, as well as distributors or channels that resell third-party technology, and finally, there are organizations whose business is educational services related to information technology. Table 1.1 shows the breakdown of respondents according to the type of organization in which they work.

We can see that the user or “in-house” systems areas continue to be those that absorb the largest number of IT professionals.
